Ironside Computer Assisted Learning environment
In 2008 Ironside State School will introduce and trial a Laptop program for a Grade 6 class. This will be an action research project of investigating how ready, and on-going access to laptop technologies can enhance student learning.
The project is called ICALe - Ironside Computer Assisted Learning environment. The students will use the latest in wireless technologies to integrate laptops as learning tools. The class will follow the same curriculum as other year 6 students and will be expected to complete the same assessment tasks, however, the delivery of the curriculum will be different and the students will access information in a very quick and efficient manner with internet technologies and appropriate software support.
In preparation for the introduction of this project, the school has expended more than $24,000 on infrastructure to ensure strong wireless conductivity throughout the campus.
TERM 3 - 2008
On Wedensay 6 August an information evening will be held for the 2009 ICALe class. Parents will then be invited to register their expression of interest for their child to participate in the program.
The class will again reflect the profile of an average class - similar numbers of boys and girls and with a range of achievement levels. This is not one of the school's gifted and talented projects.
More information will be forthcoming early in term 3.
