Ironside Computer Assisted Learning environment
In 2008 Ironside State School introduced a Laptop program for a Grade 6 class. This was an action research project of investigating how ready and on-going access to laptop technologies could enhance student learning.
The project was called ICALe - Ironside Computer Assisted Learning environment. The class followed the same curriculum as other Year 6 students and was expected to complete the same assessment tasks, however, the delivery of the curriculum was different and the students were able access information in a very quick and efficient manner with internet technologies and appropriate software support.
In 2009 the ICALe programme continues with the matriculation of the first ICALe class into Year 7 and a new Year 6 ICALe class formed.
