PHASE 1: Conference Friday, 24 July 2009 8.30 am - 2.30 pm The University of Queensland

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Convention follows from the outstanding success of the Kids’ Science Conference held last year.
An exciting opportunity for students to experience and contribute to a conference-style expression of scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical learning.
Phase 1 – Conference Students, accompanied by a supervising teacher, are invited to attend a whole-day conference at the University of Queensland including presentations and workshops by leading local scientists and experts in their fields.
Phase 2 - Inquiry Extended experimental investigations into community issues are undertaken by students over an eight week period.
Phase 3 - Forum A peer showcase of learning, presented by the students, of their inquiry results.
This initiative is a joint project developed by Brisbane Central and West schools, the University of Queensland and the Department of Natural Resources and Water and the focus of this year’s Convention is New Science in Our Community.
