Prep Information
Below are photos of our lovely building, which was opened in 2007.

If your child was born between 1st July 2004 and 30th June 2005 then they are eligible for Prep in 2010 and Year 1 in 2011. For further enrolment eligibility information, please refer to the Fact Sheets on the Preparing for Prep page.
Prep Uniform The Prep uniform consists of short- or long-sleeved polo shirt and gold legionnaire's cap, together with grey school shorts for boys and either blue school shorts or blue school skorts for girls. Please see the Uniform Shop page for further details.
Will all children be able to access a preparatory year? All children of appropriate age will have access to the preparatory year. From 2007, the full-time preparatory year will be offered in all state schools and replace the part-time preschool system that is not available at all schools. There will be no waiting list for the preparatory year as it will be available to all children attending state primary schools. It is anticipated that the preparatory year will be fofered in all non-state primary schools. If you intend to enrol your child in a non-state school, you should ask the school whether it will offer a preparatory year, The Government was provided $395 million for refurbishing existing classrooms and building new classrooms, where needed, in state and non-state schools so all Queensland schools are ready for the preparatory year.
What happens to Preschool? Preschool will not be available in state schools after 2006. Until this time, the current age requirements for Preschool will stay the same - that is, children need to be five by 31st December in the year they start Preschool. Children born in 2001 will be the last group to attend Preschools.
Prep Starting Age Children must be six by 30th June in the year they enrol in Year 1.
Research shows that children who are older when they begin compulsory schooling are more likely to engage with and enjoy learning, and will have greater success throughout their education.
The Prep year is, however, non-compulsory and is not required before commencing Year 1.
What will Prep be like? Prep is a specially designed educational program for schools offered on a full-time, non-compulsory basis.
The Curriculum The Ealry Years Curriculum Guidelines are designed to better prepare children for school. The Prep curriculum is based on active learning, investigastions and play. In Prep, children will be:

- playing and investigating independently, in pairs, in small groups and as a while class
- actively making choices about what and how they learn
- participating in music and language experiences
The learning experiences will help children to:
- develop oral language, literacy and numeracy skills
- become independent thinkers and problem solvers
- learn how to cooperate with others
- develop physical coordination skills
- listen, respond to and give directions
