Welcome to Term 4
Welcome back to Term 4, the last term of primary school for all our students. There will be a lot happening this term, so we are all looking forward to working hard and enjoying the term’s new work. Events to look forward to include the forensics presentation by children’s author, Simon Higgins, the Spring Fair, a visit to the District and Supreme Law Courts in the CBD, graduation practice from Week 6 onwards, Arts rotations, classroom testing for the year’s final reports, Music and Sports photos, and of course, the Year 7 Graduation Night (Wednesday, 9th December) and Break-Up Day.
For the first few weeks, Maths will be focussing on percentages involving discounts and commissions, mixed operations, data representation, grid referencing and map reading and the properties of angles. In Science and SOSE, the term’s work will be focussing on ‘Forensics and Queensland’s Legal System’. Students will have fun fingerprinting each other and comparing their results with Scotland Yards percentages and will also be learning about bloodstain pattern analysis, trace evidence and the history of criminal identification. In English, the focus will be on newspaper report writing, with students producing a front page using their own reports on crimes which have occurred at school.
Term 4 is certainly going to be a busy one, but one which will create many memories of the last few weeks of primary school.
