Feedback From Swimming Carnivals

Last week we held three swimming carnivals at Ironside State School. We would like to thank the parents for their understanding when the Years 3-4 carnival was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Moreover as a school community we were thrilled with the processes, engagement and outcome of these carnivals. Principal Mr Johnson and our Deputy Principals attended the carnivals and received many compliments.

Principal Damian Johnson comments "As a part of our strategic plan 2017-2020, sport is a key driver and area of focus. Our goal in 2017 was to increase the ‘expert involvement’ of community (parents) in the delivery of key events. The swimming carnivals have been the key target for 2017.

The open, willing and active preparation and partnership between key ‘experts’ has seen one of the best days I have ever experienced as a primary school principal in terms of carnivals.

The collaboration between the Physical Education department, Mr Clarke-Okah and Mrs English, Staff and teachers, parent volunteers, Georgie Parkes AND the expert influence, preparation and coordination by Mrs Kelly Sedgman and Mrs Fiona Hynd has seen the delivery of a ‘crackerjack’ carnival.

I wish I could wrap up in words the pride I have in watching what has been achieved today. When the right people work in partnership towards a clear goal....WOW! My deepest and warmest thanks to each and every one of you – Adults through to students. A sensational day. Well done Ironside."

The school acknowledges the tireless work put in to preparing the students for the carnivals by HPE specialists Mr Clarke-Okah and Mrs English. We also thank the House Captains for their contribution on the day/s.
