Spanish Speech Contest

On Sunday 13 August eight Ironside State School students from Years 5 & 6 competed in the Spanish Speaking Competition organized by the Modern Language Teachers´ Association of Queensland (MLTAQ) at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
Students had to create, memorise and deliver a guided speech in Spanish and then answer some questions put to them by the judge. Preparation for the contest required a lot of practice, persistence and volunteering their own time.
A big thank you to parents for supporting and encouraging their child in this challenging task.
Ironside students won the Spanish Language competition for the second year in a row, third prize in Year 5, and two Highly Commended!
Congratulations to Year 5 students: Imogen (1st place), Theo (3rd place), Kamelia (Highly Commended) and Year 6 students: Noam (1st place for 2nd consecutive year), Rhys (Highly Commended) and Bahar (Highly Commended for 2nd consecutive year). The school community commends your excellent achievements and the great work of our Spanish language teacher, Señora Cort.
