Ironside State School is a heritage-listed state school situated in Brisbane's riverside suburb of St Lucia. Our close proximity to the University of Queensland places Ironside in the heart of a strong educational community, enriching our students' learning experiences and future aspirations.
We are proud to educate approximately 900 students in a welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and belonging. Rich in culture, our school community represents 49 nationalities with many students bringing the experiences of non-English speaking backgrounds to our classrooms. Two full-time English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) teachers provide specialised support for students as they develop their English language skills and confidence.
The multi-cultural nature of Ironside is one of our greatest strengths and enriches learning for all of our students.
Ironside State School offers a broad and balanced curriculum that supports academic achievement, creativity, and student wellbeing. Through high-quality teaching and engaging learning experiences, we encourage students to develop strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, alongside critical thinking, collaboration, and a love of learning.
