In 2022 Ironside State School moved from their existing 1 to 1 laptop program to a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program to provide better access to devices across our Year 5 and Year 6 classes. Since its implementation we have customized our curriculum allowing the fluidity that can only come with the increased access to technology that this program provides.
BYOD has given students on-demand access to technology allowing them to seamlessly integrate digital solutions into their learning experience to best meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum.
Ironside State School currently offers a BYOD environment for our Year 5 and Year 6 students with enrolment into the program being available at any point during the students tenure of these years.
Students in Prep through to Year 4 are explicitly taught the knowledge, skills and cybersafe behaviours required for entry into a BYOD environment, should students and families choose to enter the program.
Students who do not enter into the BYOD program will be supplemented with a shared, school owned device during class times. Depending on program enrolment numbers, school devices may be shared between 2 students.
Please ensure the chosen device meets or exceeds the specifications listed in the Ironside BYOD Laptop Specifications Document in the sidebar. We do not provide the ability to use Apple, Android, Linux, or Chrome based operating systems or devices.
All students and parents are required to read and sign the Student BYOD Handbook located in the sidebar prior to entering the BYOD program.
Please watch the two short videos below for information on how to onboard your BYOD laptop, and also how to install Office prior to the initial arrival at school with your device.
