Our school

St Lucia is a riverside suburb of Brisbane, capital city of the state of Queensland, Australia. Only 6 kilometres from the city by road, the suburb is bounded on three sides by the Brisbane river and adjoins the suburbs of Toowong, Taringa and Indooroopilly. It is also the site of the University of Queensland.

A total of 1096 students in 43 classes currently attend Ironside State School, with 153 prep students enrolled in six prep classes. Ironside State School is also very fortunate to have many students from non-English speaking backgrounds enrolled and school employs two full-time English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) teachers to cater for the needs of these students.

Students in years 4 to 6 participate in the Australasian Tests with very successful results. Students in years 3 and 5 also participate in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) each year.
