Pick-up and Drop-off

For pupils travelling to school via car there are four main areas for the dropping off and collection. These are near the tennis courts on Hawken Drive, near the multipurpose basketball court on Hawken Drive, along Central Avenue near the after-school care and behind the hall on Ironside Street.

These areas are clearly signed as ‘Stop, Drop and Go’ areas and are regularly supervised by police. Parents will be fined by police for parking or leaving their car in these areas during peak times as these are zoned as two minute set-down zones. The zoned times are in place from 8.00am to 9.00am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

In these zones please do not get out of your vehicle, double park or stay more than 2 minutes. If you wish to walk your child into school please find a place on the street to park and do not use the ‘Stop, Drop and Go’ zones.

Parents are requested not to drive onto the school premises as this will endanger the lives of our pupils.

Public Transport

Some students travel to and from school on public transport. The school bus stops are located in front of the tennis courts on Hawken Drive and on the opposite side of the road in front of the Uniting Church opposite the basketball courts. These buses travel to both Toowong and Indooroopilly.

Both bus stops are supervised by Ironside staff after school. No supervision is provided before school and students are encouraged to cross at the pedestrian crossing with care.

Walking and Riding

The Transport Department provides Crossing Supervisors at the crossings in Swann Road and at the crossing in Central Avenue. Both crossings are supervised from 8:05am to 9:05am and from 2.55pm to 3.25pm daily.

Please be respectful and courteous to the Crossing Supervisors as they are here to ensure the safety of our pupils on their journeys to and from school.

If parents/carers allow their children to ride to school it is the family's responsibility to ensure that their child is fully aware of traffic rules and follows them. Students are required, by law, to wear a bicycle helmet at all times when they are riding.

Bicycle racks are provided and it is the student's responsibility to use a lock to secure their bicycle whilst stored at school. The school does NOT provide locks for bicycles under any circumstances.
