Georgie Parkes swim school is proudly owned and directed by dual Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmer Georgie Parkes. Since retiring from competitive swimming Georgie has continued with her passion of all things water and children.

After completing an education degree it was a natural progression for Georgie to work with children in the pool, rather than in the classroom. Twenty years of teaching and coaching later with fourteen of those as director of aquatics at Brisbane Boys College, Georgie has returned to her passion of 'laying the foundations of success' at the grass roots level.

The Georgie Parkes swim school specializes in swimming development for 4 to 13 year olds reflecting her strong philosophy of teaching methodology and the development of children in swimming.

At GPSS we aim to develop the physical, technical, emotional, and biomechanical elements in line with the individual growth and development of the child.

Training and instruction is fostered in an enjoyable, positive environment where the children feel challenged and inspired to improve. Coaching pedagogy and methodology of all GPSS coaches is focused on developing the whole swimmer (whether a beginner or competitive) encouraging excellent habits and lessons along the way.

As well as conducting a private swim school out of school hours GPSS staff also assist with the implementation of a progressive school swimming program during PE classes in terms 4 and 1.

Georgie and her very passionate and educated staff are all looking forward to another wonderful year ahead and we approach summer 2019 our seventh year at Ironside's pool.

It is our goal along with that of Ironside school to have all students water safe and swimming independently by the end of grade one.

Swimming is a life sport and skill, its benefits are innumerable and we look forward to the opportunity to teach you to love and enjoy it as much as we love and enjoy teaching it.

Happy swimming!
