What Does A Year 5 Student Do to Become Captain?

A Year 5 student nominating for a school leadership position is expected to have consistently demonstrated leadership qualities throughout the year.

To be considered for leadership at Ironside State School, students should demonstrate:

  • Consistent modelling of the Ironside Way
  • Strong alignment with the STAR values
  • Positive relationships with peers and staff
  • Responsibility and reliability
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Initiative and willingness to serve others
  • Competent public speaking skills in both formal and informal contexts
  • A commitment to representing the school positively

All leadership roles require mentoring, guidance and the maintenance of very high standards of conduct to which other students can aspire.

Students will be informed if they have been successful in gaining a leadership position and will be presented with their badge during the following year's Leadership Investiture Ceremony.
